Web 2.0 – Blogging
We are back to Director’s Desk posts that follow our
Web 2.0 initiative. This time the topic is Blogging.
On January 12th, Doris McKay held a class titled “Let’s
Blog”. She led us through the steps to starting a blog using
Blogger. It was
not hard to do, even a little fun!? We set up the blog, created profiles,
added a gadget, and wrote and published our first blog post.
I have resisted blogging, but have decided I need to
try this Web 2.0 tool. My blog is titled
Director’s Spot.
I intended to blog from the ALA Mid-Winter Conference, but ran out of time
to gather the blog info. Oh how I wish I would have blogged from Denver. I
attended some interesting programs and saw interesting products in the
Exhibits. It would have been easy to write a short post while the
information was fresh. However, I will do my best over the next week or so
to post information from the ALA Conference.
Let me know how you like the blog. It will not replace
these Director’s Desk web page articles,
but will be a place where I can put information that I find interesting and
fun. I will also report on conferences and meetings that I attend.
Do you want to learn about what a blog is, how it
differs from a wiki, and what a RSS feed is? Then you will want to come to
the
Free Form Free For All Tech Day. The Free Form Free For All is a group
of youth services librarians who come together to exchange ideas, learn
about good children’s and YA Books, and ask questions. Not a youth services
librarian but want to come to tech day? Sign up. They will be glad to have
you join them.
