Web 2.0—iGoogle and
Audacity
What have you been doing with the Web 2.0 tools we have
discussed this year? Have you looked at or created a Wiki? Did you set up
any RSS feeds to keep you up to date on what is happening? Have you set up a
blog? If you have not yet found any Web 2.0 tools that have peaked your
interest, the opportunity is not lost. Two upcoming workshops may be on
topics that will meet your needs.
On Wednesday, April 29th Doris McKay, Webmaster at
RPLS, will do a session on iGoogle. What is iGoogle? It is a web page that
you create to meet your information and communication needs or perhaps those
of your staff. It can be set up to receive RSS feeds from the sources you
wish to track or incorporate the Google calendar or docs to the page. You
design and select what you want with a few clicks of a mouse. It is a great
way to get started exploring Web 2.0 tools.
Sign up soon for a spot at this workshop.
The second workshop will be on an audio product called
Audacity. This is a product that makes is easy to record interviews or other
audio programs. Once the recording is made, it can be used to create a
podcast from your website. Diana Brawley Sussman, Director of the Southern
Illinois Talking Book Center, will be your guide as we explore the
possibilities. Diana has used audacity to record interviews with veterans of
WWII.
Sign up for this workshop is now open.
Take a look at these workshops, openings are still
available. This is your chance to get your feet wet with a Web 2.0 tool
guided by people who have successfully used them. No stumbling around, get
expert guidance at these workshops.
