Try It Illinois

Have you looked at any of the databases in the Try It Illinois? There are so many to check out it is hard to tell just where to start. I found databases on Newspapers both current and historical; encyclopedias both general and subject specific; products for children’s books that can be viewed online with text and voice, and numerous databases on specific topics. I was astounded by the many databases listed.

If you are a library with databases and are looking to expand your offerings take a look at Try It. Do you have a database that does not seem to fit your library user needs, look at Try It for an alternative? Has a database been priced out of your budget, and you want an alternative? Check out Try It! Your library has never purchased an online database, and you have no idea what is our there, or how they operate; then log in to Try It Illinois.

I had a few issues in logging into some of the databases. But for most I had no problems. If you have any questions about Try It Illinois contact Gwen Harrison or call Gwen at 217-785-7334.

Hurry, access to Try It for this year ends November 30, 2009. If you lost the log in and password to Try It, just call or email RPLS. The logon information has also been sent to all the members on the General and LLSAP listservs.
