Rebecca Butler, Associate
Professor Educational Technology, Research and Assessment at NIU
|
Dr. Rebecca Butler,
of Northern Illinois University was our speaker for four different copyright sessions. These sessions
were organized by type of library. The first part of each was an overview
and background of the copyright law and its basic rules. The second part
was focused on the copyright issues that are found most often in particular
types of libraries.
Rebecca is the
Associate Professor Educational Technology, Research and Assessment and
is the advisor for School Library Media Certification/Endorsement. She
holds an MSLS from the University of Kentucky and a PH.D. from the
University of Wisconsin at Madison. She is the author of
Copyright for Teachers and Librarians published by Neal-Schuman in
2004. With copyright, you may find yourself saying
“No.” After these training sessions, it is hoped, that you can say, “We can
not do that, but we can do this!” You will have alternatives for how to meet
the needs of the customer while obeying the copyright law.
