Tech Plan Tuesday

Do you need to write a technology plan for the library? Do you have a technology plan that needs to be updated?

If you answered either of these questions with a yes, then Tech Tuesdays is for you. Jan. 26, Feb. 9 and Feb. 23, 2010 are the designated Tech Tuesdays. We shall use TechAtlas at each hour-long session to cover the components you need in a technology plan. Between sessions you will have assignment to complete. At the end of the three sessions you will have a completed technology plan ready for Board approval.

Prerequisite: Completed TechAtlas Inventory.

Session 1 Topics:
  • Why you need a technology plan
  • Best practices for developing the plan
  • Getting started
  • Setting goals and Objectives for your plan
Home work Session 1:
  • Log into TechAtlas
  • Complete the first three components
  • Begin writing goals and objectives
  • Conduct staff skills assessment
Session 2 Topics
  • Review of Goals and Objectives
  • Adding activities to Objectives
  • What is Professional Development, and how do I write it in the plan
  • Begin plan budget
Homework Session 2:
  • Refine Goals and Objectives with activities
  • Review staff skill assessment
  • Create Professional Development component of plan
  • Begin budget
Session 3 Topics:
  • Review of Budgeting for technology plan
  • Evaluation of the technology plan
  • Policies to include with the plan
  • How to complete and print out your plan
Homework Session 3:
  • Complete the plan
  • Print out and send to RPLS for review
  • Update and finalize plan
  • Seek Board approval for technology plan.

This workshop series was held online in the RPLS OPAL Room on Tuesdays, January 26th, February 9th and February 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
