System Newsletters
Communication with member libraries is a primary concern of
the System. Our System covers parts of thirteen counties in central
Illinois, so we are dependent on written communications to contact our members
on a regular basis. RPLS provides three Web based newsletters for our
member libraries: Prairie News, Let's Get It All Together,
and Trustee
News. All System newsletters are distributed to RPLS members via e-mail and are also
available at the System web site where they are archived.
Prairie News is a biweekly newsletter that contains immediate and practical information for
all librarians. Typical information found in the newsletter includes: meeting
dates and places, news from the Illinois State Library and member libraries,
grant opportunities, notices or upcoming conferences, grant and report filing
deadlines, information concerning employment opportunities and descriptions of
workshops, etc.
Let's Get It All Together is a newsletter published
five times a year for public library youth services librarians and school
librarians. It contains practical ideas that can be used in programming,
displays, library instruction, and trends in services to youth. The ideas
can be adapted for use to encourage adults as well as children to read.
The issues are meant to be accumulated by month into a notebook so librarians
can refer to back issues for ideas.
Trustee News is a randomly published newsletter containing information to educate and inform public
library trustees. The newsletter is designed to cover ever changing budgetary and legal issues, announcements of
trustee workshops and training sessions, and general information of interest to
trustees.
