Users’ Group
Finance Committee Meeting
10/22/03
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. at the Mason City Public Library District. Present were Betty Lou Hicks, Bobbi Benning, Nina Wunderlich, Lee Ann Fisher, Paul Johnson, Lois Morse, and Diane Yeoman.
The changes in income were discussed. There was a slight increase in income from the user names and a decrease in expenses due to the state library picking up the cost of TMQ backloading.
Paul brought information telling us how other library systems were charging fees for their LLSAP. The committee discussed these and talked about the pros and cons of separating out charges. Paul will check outside of Illinois for possible pricing formulas. Betty Lou will check with a consortium in Michigan for its pricing formula.
The fee structure of user name, maintenance and membership were discussed. The committee is waiting to find out from Dynix how the new Horizon system will be set up so that a new feasible fee structure can be planned. Paul will have that information for the next finance committee meeting.
The committee discussed the possibility of doing an increase in fees in a step method due to the cost many libraries will have to incur upgrading their computers for the new system requirements.
The next meeting will be November 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the Mason City Public Library. The meeting was adjourned at 12:06 p.m.
