· Pat presented the DRA Technology Committee Timeline [DRAFT]. The group agreed that this is merely a tool and will be flexible.
· The Committee discussed the Bill Moen study.
· Paul Johnson discussed the River Bend Library System and their survey to other systems about consultants. He spoke to Mary Anne Stewart and the results were split some used consultants in the process and some didnt, and some used consultants for part of the process. He asked for a list of consultants, but the results were too new and she did not have a list yet.
· In order to present information to the Committee, Paul spoke to Patrick McClintock of RMG consultants, Inc. He asked for a ballpark estimate for helping with the RFP and the vendor evaluation process. Paul stressed this was not an official price quote but this vendor would most likely charge $12,000 - $15,000. RMG said a consultant is most valuable in assisting with the RFP and contract negotiation. The group thought the price was reasonable. Paul will share other names with the Committee as soon as he obtains them.
· Pat discussed the RPLS Consortium surveys. Pat said 78 surveys were returned. She asked the group for direction on the next step. Tammy Schnell and Tim Childers offered to help Pat enter the data into a database.
· Paul discussed the RPLS surveys.
· There was a discussion about computer requirements.
· The group discussed the Library Journal article on automation.
· Helen Flynn discussed the WEB2 training she attended. The Committee discussed the possibility of changing the current logo. Shelley K. suggested we insert RPLS instead of the DRAGON logo, since the DRA company name is no more. The committee agreed, and Helen agreed to work on replacing the dragon with the RPLS logo.
· Discussed current problems individuals are having with telnet connectivity. Paul mentioned the router for internet service may not prioritize traffic in some instances; firewalls may be another factor. Paul discussed these issues with computer staff and Tim S. and Terry M. will be logging problems (ultimately on the web) and developing a method for collecting information and analyzing it about these problems.
· Next meeting at RPLS on June 5th, 9:30
