DataBase Standards
Meeting
January 16th
2002
Welcome
to all members. The ILLSAP data survey was passed out and discussed. Patsy
Walters is in charge of filling out the survey and sending it to the
appropriate people. The survey was filled out with all of the datastandards
input. Cathy Marx gave a brief overview of the Governing Board Meeting, Moen
study was discussed. The Live and Learn Grants are due February 1st.
Sersi changes were discussed concerning DRA software changes. It was
decided that we need to attend the up
coming convention in St. Louis to get a better understanding of how Sersi will
operate and what software vendors they might support. The better part of the
meeting was spent discussing training. It was felt at the Governing Board
Meeting that someone needs to be present during the training sessions that
Diane Kovach will be presenting. This is very time consuming and one person
would have to take too much time away from their job to attend all the
sessions. We split the training sessions among several members. Patsy Walters
will attend the first session on February 6th and 8th.
Shirley Shaw will attend March 22nd at Lincoln. Karla Johnson will
attend April 3rd at RPLS. It was asked that our datastandards
members not take up a spot in class or be active on any computer, we will be
there for observation only. May dates have not been discussed. Steve Craven is
continuing to have problems with the acquisition module. It was voted on by the
committee that he can use the 099 field to put an item “on order” then remove
that field when the item is catalogued. Patsy Walters is still having trouble
with people not filling out required fields, 260, 245 and 300 fields need to be
correct. The next meeting is scheduled for February 20th at Richland
Community College at 10:00am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
