What is this course about?
LTA 1101 is an introduction to different types of libraries & the role of the library technical assistant.

LTA 1101 is the prerequisite to other Library Technical Assistant courses.

LTA 1101 will teach you: 

  1. The history and development of libraries
  2. The place of today's library in the global society
  3. Overview of library automation
  4. The types and variety of library materials and resources
  5. The differences and similarities among the major types of libraries
  6. Library research methodologies
  7. Information literacy and critical thinking skills
  8. The changing role of the Library Technical Assistant in the 21st century library

Available via two-way video-teleconferencing through RPLS from the College of DuPage.

Other Information: Each course is 6 weeks long and is done independently.  There is no set time for the courses.  Lessons are made available to students on Wednesday and Fridays each week of the course, and can be completed at the student's convenience.  You may not work ahead, but once a lesson is made available, you may go back to it as many times as you want.  Lessons are made available for 3 weeks after the course is complete.    Other courses are available by request.
