GASB STATEMENT #34: An Overview of the New Standard

Audience: This is a heads-up for administrators, accountants, bookkeepers, board members, etc., who are typically involved in communicating with the library's auditors about the annual audit. Those not involved with the library's annual audit are likely to find the program of limited interest and value.

Cost: Free

Description: All governmental units that currently obtain an annual CPA (Certified Public Accountant) audit will find their firms using the new standard. While many smaller units of government choose to obtain a professional audit, Illinois governmental units that have more than $200,000 in tax revenue are required to obtain a professional audit annually. This workshop will cover the key requirements of the new standard. Participants will examine an audit prepared under the new standards. There will also be time for questions and answers.

Other Information: Jim Taylor, Partner, Governmental Accounting, Carpentier, Mitchell and Goddard, Moline, Illinois will be the speaker. Mr. Taylor is a graduate of the University of Illinois and has more than 20 years experience in governmental accounting.
