Fields To Delete

 

These field are listed separately for your convenience.  You may want to photocopy this section, reduce it, and put it near your terminal.  Information about the fields is included to eliminate possible errors.

 

Always delete the following fields:

 

005       Not standard MARC format.

039       Not standard MARC format.

049       Local holdings.

051       LC copy and issue information.

066       Chinese, Japanese or Korean character sets.

069       Control number from another system.

071       Copy information at National Agricultural Library.

072       Subject codes for special indexing systems.

090       Locally assigned LC-type call number.

092       Locally assigned dewey call number.

096       Locally assigned NLM call number.

098       Numbers from other classification schemes.

099       Local free-text call number.

263       Projected publication date.

265       Source for acquisition.

350       Bibliographic price.

400       Change to 490; add 800 field

410       Former field for series: corporate name/title.

411       Former field for series: conference name/title.

506       Restrictions on access note.

535       Location of originals/duplicates.

583       Actions.

599       Differentiable local note.

653       Subject added entry, uncontrolled heading.

654       Subject added entry, faceted topical heading.

   655       Change to 650

699       Add number for classified catalogs only.

752       Hierarchical place name access.

755       Added entry, physical characteristics.

900s     Local notes, etc.  DELETE ALL 900s except On order 999.
