      These field are already inserted for you, so leave them be:

      Enter the following fixed fields as instructed below:

            Comp (form of composition) - do not leave blank, use nn.

            Format (format of music)  - used for scores.  Do not leave blank, use n.

            Form (special characteristics) - leave blank

            Accomp m (accompanying matter) (O) - leave blank if there are no accompanying materials.  Other possible responses are:

                  m (script material)

                  o (posters)

                  r (instructional materials)

                  z (types of accompanying matter that do not fit the above categories.  Describe the material in a 500 notes field).

            Lit (literary text) (R) (If you do not know, use z)

                  a(autobiography)

                  b(biography)

                  c(drama)

                  e(essays)

                  f  (fiction)

                  g(reporting)

                  h(history)

                  I  (instruction)

VARIABLE FIELDS:

 

Follow the general rules from your monographs manual for these fields.  Any exceptions will be noted here:

 

020;   ISBN

092;   Delete

099;   Delete

100;   Author

245;   Title -- leave the subfield h as it is -- it is a required field.

260;   Imprint

300;   Physical description.  The default for subfield b is provided for you.  You may add other information, such as stereo, to this subfield.  In subfield a enter the number of cassettes, with the run time in parentheses.  For example:

                        300;   ; a 4 sound cassettes (180 min.) : $ b analog, stereo. $

511;   Participants or performers.  This can be used for the reader(s) of the book.  The indicators are provided for you.  For example:

                        511;   ; a Read by Tom Hanks $

500;   General notes.  Put abridged or unabridged here, not in 250.

6xx;   Use subject headings as discussed in monograph manual, but make sure the x Sound recordings that was included for you is the final subfield.

650;   Audiobooks.  Leave this subject headings as is.

700;   Added, searchable, entry for the reader of the book.  Only use if you feel people may search for this work by the narrator’s name.

246;   Added titles.  This does not appear on the workform, so take care to use 246, and NOT the 700 that does appear if you want to add searchable titles.
