Section 26 - Accompanying Matter

 

Input standards         Optional.  Up to five (MED) or six (SCO, REC) one-character codes.  Default for med:  bbbbb.  Default for SCO,REC:  bbbbbb

MED, SCO, REC         Use Accomp mat to indicate the type of accompanying matter.

                                 Enter codes left-justified in alphabetical order and leave any remaining positions blank (b).  If more than five (MED) or six (SCO and REC) items are present, use the five or six most important items.

Codes: MED              Use codes l, m, o, p, or q to identify accompanying matter for projected media and archival cataloging.  Use blank (b) for kits.

                  p       Pressbooks.  Use for books sent to theater owners or the press.  A pressbook may be a synopsis of the movie, credits, cast, advertisements, or available advertising posters.

                  s        Score

                  z       Other accompanying matter.  Use for accompanying matter that may be described in the physical description (field 300 subfield   e) or in a note (field 500).  Do not use for accompanying sound for projected media.  Use field 007 subfields   f and   g for accompanying sound.

 

Codes: SCO, REC               Use the following codes for accompanying matter that is substantial or unique and cannot be found in standard reference works:

 

                                 b       No accompanying matter

                                          a       Discography.  Use for discographies and other bibliographies of recorded sound.

 

                                          b       Bibliography

                                          c       Thematic index

                                          d       Libretto or text.  Use for librettos and for transcripts of the verbal content of recordings.

 

                                          e       Biography of composer or author

                                          f        Biography of performer or history of ensemble

                                          g       Technical/Historical information on instruments

                                          h       Technical information on music.  Use for technical information and for performance instructions and performance instruction notes.

 

                                          I        Historical information.  Use for historical information and information about music and items other than music.
