Section 27 - On Order Records Workform
On-order records are created in Netcat using the On-order workform. To access the list of workforms type n at the >> prompt at the bottom of the screen. Press Return to get to the second and third screens of workforms. Type the number of the workform (currently this number is 5). Press Return. The workform will then display on the screen. It appears as follows:
There are only 4 fields that you must enter. To enter the information completely you must input the ISBN field, the author if there is one, the title and the On-Order field.
ISBN field -- To input the ISBN (or 020) field, press the #4 key on the keypad. The cursor will move to the ISBN field. Type in the ISBN number without dashes or spaces and then press Return.
Author field -- To input the author (or 100) field, again press the #4 key on the keypad. The cursor will move to the author field. Type the author’s last name first, followed by a comma and a space and then his first name, followed by a period and then hitting Return. Capitalize only the first letter of his first and last name. If there is no author, delete the author field by pressing the 0 at the bottom of your keypad.
Title field -- To input the title (or 245) field, again press the #4 key on the keypad and press Return. The cursor will move to the title field where you can type it in, eliminating the initial articles a, an, and the. Capitolize only the first letter of the first word of the title, and any proper names, if they are in the title. If the On-Order record is for a book you will then type a period at the end of the title and press Return. If the title is for an audiobook, sound recording or a large print edition, you must add that information to the title field as follows.
At the end of the title, instead of typing the period, hit the #9 key on the keypad and type the h key. You will then type in brackets either: [audiobook], [sound recording], or [large type]. Press Return. |
