Costume Use Policy
Costumes may be borrowed by librarians in the Rolling Prairie Library System. Costumes may be used to promote library programs and services only. Please do not request costumes for personal use.
Costumes may be worn by library staff or designated volunteers. The borrowing library will be held responsible for any damage to the costume. If damage occurs, the lending library will be responsible for assessing the damage and determining the cost to repair. The borrowing library will be responsible for paying any repair costs.
A limit of two (2) costumes may be requested per library per event with the exception of the six (6) “Wizard of Oz” costumes which may be borrowed individually or as a group.
Costumes may be requested up to 6 months in advance. Allow at least two (2) weeks for delivery. A request does not guarantee the costume will be available. The lending library will contact the requesting library to confirm the costume’s availability.
Costumes must be returned on the date designated by the lending library. In most instances, the costume should be returned on the next possible delivery date following the event. All items must be returned in the condition in which they were received.
No permanent alterations may be made to the costumes. For acceptable temporary alteration suggestions, please refer to the Costume Manual.
General cleaning of the costumes will be the responsibility of the lending library. For spot cleaning instructions, please refer to the Costume Manual.
