Setting up OCLC Interlibrary Loan/Cataloging

Install the OCLC software as you would any other Windows program. Accept the defaults in each step.

After installation you should see a Passport for Windows icon on your desktop. Double click the icon to start OCLC Passport.

You now need to create a session, to do this follow these steps:

  1. Click on Session, Create...
  2. Click yes on the following dialog box.

  3. You will then see
     

    For Interlibrary Loan

    For Cataloging
    Connecting to a Service - ILL Connecting to a Service - Cataloging
    Select PRISM Interlibrary Loan and press Next. Select PRISM Cataloging Next.


     

  4. You will then see
    Telecommunications Method
    Select Internet. If you have a dial-up account select Dial Access, press Next.
     
  5. You will see
    OCLC Authorization and Password
    Enter the authorization number (with the dashes) and password you received in your packet during OCLC training at RPLS. You must attend OCLC ILL training at RPLS to get your authorization number and password, press Next.
     
  6. You will see
    Session Name
    Enter a name for this session or accept the default, press Finish.
     
  7. You will see
    Session Guide Finished
    Click yes to open this session or No to exit.

The next time you use Passport, Click on Session, Open and select the session name you just created.
