| 10/05/09 | 1:44 p.m. Many of you are still experiencing trouble accessing our webpage and this in turn can cause trouble accessing HIP. It is a DNS problem that is slowly "correcting itself." If you were logged into Horizon prior to this problem, stay logged in. If you were logged in earlier, but logged out, or if you are logging in for the first time today, you may get a middle tier error - an indication that Horizon and HIP are not talking. Unfortunately, when the two do not talk, you cannot successfully place requests. However, you can successfully check items in and out. Hopefully, the problem will be corrected shortly. However, until all issues have been resolved, we will continue to experience the connectivity problems most libraries have experienced over the last two weeks. | 4/30/09 | 7:33 A.M. Earlier this morning we were completely unable to access the Interenet, which included posting to this system status page and e-mailing the listserv. We logged a call with ICN and they were aware of a power outage at Richland. They were working with Richland in getting someone on site to evaluate the situation and restore power. It seems they were successful. At this point we do not have any kind of update on what the actual cause was or if we will experience any other breaks in service, but for now everything seems to be working properly. | 4/21/09 | 7:40 p.m HIP is up, requests are working. We have made several changes to views in Horizon to get screens to look the way they used to, and we will now begin to do the same for HIP. There may be small HIP outages (lasting no more than 30 seconds) while processes are reset as these changes are made. Thank you all for your cooperation during this long day of upgrades. Until they are finished, we can't go in and rework it to make the changes that we made to previous versions. | 4/21/09 | 1:15 p.m. It is OK to log into Horizon. Be aware you will get a middle-tier connection error. This is related to the ability to place requests, which you will not have until HIP is finished. When you see the error, click "OK," and you will be able to log in for circulation and cataloging. ICN, who have been working on our connectivity problem: "Richland CC and sites connected behind are experiencing outages due to an apparent denial of service attack towards Richland. Not all libraries are affected with all types of searches. The general error normally ends with ...NIL-Dereference... We have logged this with SirsiDynix and they are working to resolve.
